South Shore, Kentucky Resident
FC Daehler Mortuary
US Army Vietnam Veteran
Roy Allen Yopp went to be with the Lord, his savior, on December 4th, 2025. He resided in South Shore, Kentucky and was born and raised in Princeton, West Virginia. He lived a long, memory-filled life, passing at the age of 86. He was preceded in death by his beloved parents, Andrew Yopp and Fannie Yopp (Six) as well as his eight brothers and two sisters. He happily finally made it to his forever home to be with his wife, Margaret Jean Yopp, and daughter, Pamela Bell.
He was nothing less than a great man. He was family oriented, well-rounded, loved working with his hands, and being a Christian man. He left behind a son Roy Yopp Jr., his favorite and only grandchildren Kristyn and Aaron Bell, son-in-law Michael Bell (Pamela), and step son Mark Bourne. The memories he left behind though is a gift from God, and we will treasure them forever. I know his whole family agrees that we wouldn't know where we would be if he wasn't in our lives.
In his life, he was in the United States Army during the Vietnam Era and worked for CSX Railroad until his retirement. He spent the rest of his days enjoying time with his family and not missing any moments. A few activities he loved doing were woodworking, working on lawnmowers, sitting on the porch, and watching historical documentaries and sports. He was married to his wife for over 50 years. Together they were the cornerstones of our family. The values, truths, and teachings he shared will be a part of us forever, especially me (his granddaughter).
Roy always spent time imparting his wisdom and was a gift to everyone who knew him. He was a stable anchor that we could count on. He always took care of his family and was a never-ending support in everything. He always knew how to put a smile on the face whether it was dancing with his granddaughter in the kitchen and taking her shopping, watching sports with his son, spending time with his grandson (all about computers), working with his hands on projects with his son in law Michael, and spending time with his daughter Pamela and wife Jean. He loved and cared fiercely and there was no question we were all loved.
I will part with everyone on the words he has shared with me over the years. He knew this time was coming and he did not waste any moment over the last few years to help make it easier; that was just the type of man he was. He told me he knew where he was going and that we are supposed to rejoice when someone passes because we know the destination.
He will always be missed and the impact he made will stay with us forever. However, today, I just want people to know that we lost a great man. His legacy will continue forever through those who loved him.
There will be a private ceremony. Donations can be made to help other stroke victims and survivors at The Stroke Foundation at https://www.thestrokefoundation.org/in his memory.
