It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Roger G. Covert Sr., who left us on March 15, 2026, at the age of 71. Roger was born on April 20, 1954, in Portsmouth, Ohio, where he spent most of his life. A proud Portsmouth High School graduate, he went on to work as a forklift operator in the warehouse industry, dedicating many years to his job.

Roger was a simple man with a huge heart. He loved nothing more than relaxing with a good movie or TV show, particularly enjoying Westerns and the classic film Titanic. When he wasn't catching up on the latest flicks, you could find him gathered around a table playing cards, sharing laughter and fun with friends and family.

He leaves behind his beloved sons: Roger (Mandy) Covert of Greenup, KY, Jayson Covert of Portsmouth, Shawn (Akeila) Covert of Greenup and Christopher Covert of Lancaster, one brother Mike ("Cricket") Covert of Waverly, eleven grandchildren and eight great grandchildren, the mother of his children, Linda Covert of Portsmouth and many nieces, nephews and friends, who will continue to carry his fond memories of Roger.

Roger was preceded in death by his loving parents, Glennis and Garnet (Nee Bradley) Covert, one daughter, Heather Covert, one brother Jim Covert and one sister Glenda Hood.

Rest in peace, Roger. You will be missed deeply.
