It is with heavy hearts and deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Rodney Moore, who departed this world unexpectedly on January 24, 2024. Born on June 2, 1952, to Russell and Clair Moore. Rodney lived a life filled with joy, compassion, and cherished memories. His departure leaves an irreplaceable void in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.

Rodney was a proud resident of West Portsmouth, but was a North West High School Graduate. Rodney pursued a fulfilling career as a Brakeman in the railroad industry. With unwavering commitment and skill, he traversed the tracks, ensuring the safety and efficiency of the trains he served. After many years of devoted service, Rodney retired, leaving behind a legacy of professionalism and camaraderie amongst his colleagues.

In his leisure time, Rodney found solace in the embrace of nature. He relished in the great outdoors, finding joy in riding four-wheelers and exploring the countryside on horseback. Whether basking in the warmth of the sun or marveling at the starry night sky, Rodney embraced the beauty of the world around him and enjoyed playing guitar.

Rodney's love for life was further evidenced by his passion for playing cards. Whether it was riding four wheelers, card games, or just spending time with his dear friends: Jeff Andre, Mike Pollard, Chad and Jenny Whitt, and Tobias Blake, Rodney created enduring memories that will be cherished by all who shared in his laughter and competitive spirit.

Though Rodney's journey was not without its challenges, he was blessed with a son and daughter, Randall and Brandy Moore, two siblings: Marsha Jones and Scott Moore, who provided him with love and joy throughout their time together. Additionally, his loyal and faithful Beagle companion, Zenna, walked by his side, bringing comfort through both the highs and lows of life.

No Services will be held at this time. Rodney Moore's departure leaves behind a void that cannot be filled. His kind heart, gentle spirit, and memorable presence will forever be etched in our souls. As we mourn his loss, let us also reflect on the love and laughter he brought into our lives, and cherish the everlasting memories we were fortunate enough to create with him.
