Robert Gregg Mingus, age 63, of Portsmouth, Ohio, passed away on June 2, 2026. He was born on June 14, 1962.

Robert was preceded in death by his parents, Richard Earl Mingus and Marilyn Kallem.

He is survived by his beloved son, BJ (Aly) Mingus of Portsmouth; two cherished grandchildren, Ellie Mingus and Riley Derifield; three brothers, Pete (Trish) Mingus of South Webster, Richard G. Mingus of South Shore, KY, and Thomas Mueller of Portsmouth; four sisters, Robin Riesenbeck of Las Vegas, NV, Ama Simpson of Portsmouth, Tamara Brumfield of Portsmouth, and Trisha (Jerry) Burke-Lech of Portsmouth; as well as many beloved nieces, nephews, and great-nieces.

Robert had a gift for finding joy in the simple things. He was a talented woodworker who took pride in his craft, and few things made him happier than soaking up the sun outdoors, cooling off by the ocean or the pool, or hunting for unique treasures at yard sales. He cherished every moment spent with family, especially going out to dinner with his nieces and nephews. Robert was known for his adventurous spirit and his infectious enthusiasm - whenever something was going on, his answer was always a warm and ready, "I wanna go."

A Celebration of Life will be held at the family's convenience. Additional details will be announced at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that memorial donations be made to Portsmouth Baptist Church of Rosemount Pastor Mike Phillips.
