It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Philip Coles Penn, of Otway, Ohio, on September 9, 2025, at the age of 79. Born on August 2, 1946, in Portsmouth, Ohio, Philip was a beloved husband, painter, and cherished member of his community.
Philip dedicated many years of his life to the craft of painting, where he made his mark as a proud member of the painters union. He was a US Army Veteran. His passion for his work was matched only by his love for the simple joys that life offered. He found great pleasure in "piddlin" around on his tractor, and his heart was warmed by the companionship of his beloved cat, Tag.
Above all, Philip treasured the time spent with his family, creating lasting memories through vacations to serene destinations such as Gatlinburg, Pigeon Forge, Michigan, and New York. He delighted in outings to the Columbus Zoo with his wife, Angela Penn, with whom he shared ten wonderful years of love and partnership.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Blanchard and Emogene (Nee Conkel) Penn, and two brothers, Richard and Terry Penn.
Philip is survived by his loving wife, Angela (Nee McGeary) Penn of Otway, one son Clint (Michelle) Rickey of Ashland, OH, two daughters: "Andi" (Mike) Hickerson of Lucasville, Wendy (Virgil) Diller of Portsmouth, seven grandchildren and four great grandchildren, who will carry forward his spirit of kindness and his love for family.
