It is with deep sorrow and profound respect that we announce the passing of Cpl. Nathaniel Edward Curtis on Thursday, May 15, 2025, a beloved son, devoted husband, and distinguished United States Marine. Nathaniel was born on September 24, 2001, in Portsmouth, Ohio, and passed away. He was a proud graduate of North West High School, Class of 2020, where he was known for his spirited enthusiasm and dedication.

In July 2020, Nathaniel answered the call to serve his country by enlisting in the United States Marine Corps. Over the course of his service, he was promoted to the rank of Corporal (E4) in November 2023. Nathaniel earned numerous commendations, including the Sea Service Deployment Ribbon, the Marine Corps Good Conduct Medal, the Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, and the National Defense Service Medal. His time spent deployed in Okinawa, Japan, as a digital wideband systems maintainer with Marine Wing Communications Squadron 18, Marine Air Control Group 18, 1st Marine Aircraft Wing stationed at Camp Foster, exemplified his commitment to duty.

Nathaniel was not only a dedicated Marine but also a man of varied interests and passions. He had a profound love for the outdoors and enjoyed caving, snorkeling, and embarking on adventures. His affinity for target shooting and cruising on motorcycles showcased his adventurous spirit. Among his hobbies, he cherished simple pleasures: a love for food, particularly bread, pasta, and his favorite dish, Briar Patch Chicken. He held a unique fondness for the hyrax, a testament to his quirky and endearing personality.

Nathaniel leaves behind his beloved wife, Faith (nee Newman) Curtis of Wheelersburg, and his devoted mother, Betty DeLong of Lucasville, mother in law, Frankie Stephenson of Otway, brothers: Jason (Carly) Blevins of Cincinnati and Billy Jo Self of Portsmouth, sister Janna Journey (Dr. Darren Adams) Journey of Rosemount, brother in law Matthew Wright of Otway, uncle Michael DeLong of Portsmouth, many nieces and nephews, and many cousins, and special mention of cousin Elexis DeLong of Portsmouth and several other fellow friends, Marines, and military personnel who served alongside him, will be profoundly impacted by his absence and will remember his unwavering spirit.
