Marcella Canter

Marcella "Marty" Canter, 90 years, Lucasville resident, went home to be with the Lord on October 2, 2022. Marty was born on July 23, 1932, in Portsmouth to William and Florence (Nee Reinhardt) Canter.

Marty was a graduate of the University of Cincinnati and God's Bible College & Malone College. She was a missionary on the Laredo, Texas border and a retired Spanish and Latin teacher at Northwest High School. Her favorite hymn was "It is well with my soul" and "Amazing Grace".

Marty was the last remaining member of her immediate family. She enjoyed being with family and was always happy to be with them. She retired from teaching in 2005.

She was preceded in death by her parents, three brothers and sister-in-laws: Earl (Bonita), Paul (Stella), Alonzo (Winifred) Canter, three sisters: Ruth (John) Adams, Marie (Roy) Armstrong, Romaine Brown, and her husband of twelve years, Robert Mounts.

She is survived by many nieces, nephews and extended family.

Services will be held on Thursday, October 6th, 2022 at 12:00 PM NOON, at Memorial Burial, 10556 Gallia Pike, Wheelersburg, OH. Pastor Brian Baer will be officiating.
