Mahala Dawn Pelfrey, 49, went to be with the lord and our savior June 26, 2025 after a long, hard, battle with Cancer. She was a remarkable woman, known for her strength, her sharp wit, and her dedication to her family and church.

She was preceded in death by her mother Mary Louise Rice, and her father Michael Pelfrey.

Surviving her is her only child, Freedom Storm Scott (Jeremiah Lee Scott), her four grandchildren: Rebel Honor Lee Scott, MiLann Sky Malise Scott, Legend Cobain Scott & Sparrow Moon Scott; sisters Kimberly Jo "Kimmi Jo" Pelfrey, Colleen Elizabeth "Bessy" Pelfrey; brothers: Joseph Edward Pelfrey, Michael Shane "Biddy" Pelfrey (Juli Clydean Brown) & Joshua Aaron Pelfrey-Coffey (Zachary Scott Coffey); many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, best friend Malisa Marie Blankenbeckley, her church family and many other friends.

Mahala was a devoted single mother, and grandmother that spent most of her time helping raise her grand babies, even during her fight with cancer. They were the light of her life, and she will be watching over them from heaven.

Mahala was a member of apostolic church in Ironton, OH, where she was blessed with the Holy Ghost. She enjoyed vacationing with her daughter, son in law and grandkids, making unforgettable memories with her niece Journey Claire Renne Pelfrey, and Taelyn Lyric Stiltner.

She loved having any chance she could get to make memories with her loved ones and had many stories to share. She understood the importance of life's great treasures and the immense weight that memories hold.

Mahala had a love for coffee, animals, specifically her dog Bitsy who had passed away as well. She was a hard worker who took on many jobs to provide for her family over the years but to her, nothing could outweigh the blessing of being a mom and "GumGum".

Visitation will be held Monday July 7, 2025 from 12:00Noon to 1:00 PM. Funeral services will be immediately following at 1:00 PM all at FC Daehler's Funeral home, in Portsmouth, OH. Burial immediatey following in Wheelersburg Cemetery.
