Kevin Lee Butcher, a beloved son, husband, father, brother, and friend, passed away peacefully on October 18, 2025, at the age of 51, following a courageous battle with a severe illness. Born on January 23, 1974, in Dayton, Ohio, Kevin lived a life marked by love, resilience, and unwavering support for those around him.
Kevin was a cherished son of Anita and Charles Butcher, born in Dayton before moving to Portsmouth, Ohio, where he would eventually build a life filled with family and friendship. After graduating from Portsmouth West High School, Kevin pursued further education in auto body at the Scioto County Joint Vocational School, graduating in 1992. He went to Tri State Truck Driving Academy which began his successful career as a professional commercial truck driver, a profession he dedicated himself to for 25 years before becoming disabled.
On August 25, 1998, Kevin married the love of his life, Martha Elizabeth Gillum, in Greenup, Kentucky. Their love story spanned nearly three decades, characterized by mutual respect and admiration. Together, they created a warm and welcoming home for their children, Natasha (John H Kerr-Jennice Jr), and Cassandra Butcher. Kevin took immense pride in being a father, always encouraging his children to pursue their passions and instilling in them the values of hard work and determination.
Kevin was preceded in death by his father, Charles Butcher, and his daughter Cassandra Butcher, both of whom he missed dearly. He is survived by his loving wife Martha, and his daughter Natasha, his mother, Anita Butcher, older brother Terry (Kathy Butcher), and younger brother Chad (Michelle Butcher), who will carry on his legacy of kindness and strength.
Beyond his family, Kevin was known for his protective nature; he was a man who stood up for those who couldn't stand up for themselves, teaching others how to find their own voices. His heart was as expansive as his love for the great outdoors. Kevin found joy in fishing and hunting, often spending his weekends surrounded by nature and the laughter of his family.
In memory of Kevin's spirit and the profound impact he had on the lives of others, his family will hold a private funeral service, honoring the cherished moments they shared.
Kevin Lee Butcher will be remembered not only for his dedication to his family and profession but for the way he touched the hearts of everyone he met. His legacy of love, strength, and compassion will continue to inspire those who knew him. He will be deeply missed but never forgotten.
