John Scott McGraw, age 61, passed away on September 1, 2026. John was born on June 9, 1965, in Portsmouth, Ohio, and later made his home in Newtonsville.
John was a proud graduate of Portsmouth High School, Class of 1983. He worked for many years as a Printer Press Operator. John was a hardworking and dependable person who took pride in what he did.
John proudly served his country in the United States Army. His time in the military was an important part of his life and something he carried with him with pride.
John enjoyed the things that made him happy. He was a lifelong fan of the Cincinnati Reds and Cincinnati Bengals and loved collecting sports memorabilia and comic books. He also enjoyed reading, especially books about history. These interests were a big part of who John was and gave him many things to enjoy throughout his life.
John was preceded in death by his father, Ralph Eugene McGraw; his brother, Dale McGraw; and his sister, Roxanna Adams.
He is survived by his mother, Dorothy McGraw of South Shore, KY; his brother, Robert McGraw of Otway; and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, and one great-great-niece.
John will be deeply missed by his family and all those who knew and loved him. He leaves behind many memories that will be cherished for years to come.
A graveside service with Military Honors will be held on Tuesday, September 8, 2026, at 11:00 AM at Friendship Cemetery, 26933 US-52, Stout, OH 45684, in Nile Township, next to Friendship Church. Military Honors will be provided by American Legion James Dickey Post #23.
