Joan Powell, 90, a lifelong resident of Wheelersburg, passed away peacefully on May 24, 2025, at Concord Nursing Home.

Born and raised in Scioto County, Joan graduated from Portsmouth East High School in 1952.

She went on to dedicate many years of service as a school bus driver for Wheelersburg Schools, becoming a familiar and trusted presence in the lives of countless students and families. Known for her kind heart and steady hand, Joan's quiet strength left a lasting mark on her community.

Joan had a deep love for her family, a special fondness for her cats, and found joy in the simple moments spent with loved ones. She is survived by her devoted son, Greg Powell of Wheelersburg, and her beloved granddaughter, Ashleigh Powell of Sciotoville, both of whom were the light of her life.

Her gentle humor, caring spirit, and unwavering love will be remembered by all who knew her. A private celebration of life will be held by the family at a later date.
