Jeffrey D. Lavender, 72, of West Portsmouth, passed away on Tuesday, January 13, 2026, at SOMC Hospice. Jeff was born on April 18, 1953, to the late Florence "Jean" (Maxey) Lavender and Charles "Bud" Lavender.

He was a 1972 graduate of Portsmouth High School. Following graduation, Jeff proudly served four years in the United States Marine Corps and later retired from Norfolk Southern Railroad.

He is survived by four siblings: Jay (Gina) Lavender of Memphis; Judy Arnett (Dan) of Rosemount; Jon (Jenny) Lavender of Lucasville; and Joe (Kimberly) Lavender of Stout. He is also survived by nephews Michael Eldridge of Portsmouth, Jon (Amanda) Lavender of Gallipolis, Ian Lavender of Lucasville, Christopher Arnett, Jacob (Madeleine) Lavender of Columbus; and by his niece, Stacy (Doug) Shoemaker of Chillicothe.

In addition to his parents, Jeff was preceded in death by his sister, Jan Eldridge.

Arrangements are under the direction of F.C. Daehler Mortuary, with a graveside gathering to be held at the discretion of the family.
