PERRY Erma "Jean" Perry, 94, of Portsmouth went to be with her Lord and Savior on January 1st, 2021, at Grant Medical Center in Columbus, Ohio. Jean was a loving wife, mother, sister, aunt, great aunt and friend. She was born October 24th, 1926 in Sciotoville, Ohio to the late Walter and Belma (Nee: Gilpin) Furnier. Jean was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Raymond "Buddy" Perry, her only dearly beloved son, Raymond Steven Perry, her sister, JoAnn McFarland Angel, brother John Furnier, sister-in-law, Anna Lee Furnier and several other brother-in-laws and sister-in-laws. Surviving is her loving daughter, Lana Perry of Portsmouth, brother James Furnier of Wheelersburg, and sister-in-law, Bertha Furnier of Stout, and many wonderful nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews, family and friends. Jean was a graduate of Manchester High School. She worked as a stitcher at Williams Shoe Factory and a nurse's aide at Southern Ohio Medical Center. She was an avid sports fan who loved watching her great nephews play football and track (Portsmouth West High School, North Adams High School, Morehead State and Michigan State). She was a Golden Bear spending wonderful hours following the Shawnee State girls' basketball team and participating in the Bears field trips. Jean was a member of Cornerstone United Methodist Church (formerly First United Methodist Church) and the Crusaders Sunday School Class (of which she was extremely proud). Visitation will be held at F.C.Daehler Mortuary on Friday, January 8th, 2021, from 11:00 AM to 12:00 Noon, with Funeral Service immediately following at 12:00 Noon. Burial will follow in McKendree Cemetery, Stout, Ohio. Pastor Greg Carter will be officiating. For the safety of everyone, visitors are required to wear facial covering and maintain social distancing. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Cornerstone United Methodist Church, 808 Offnere Street, Portsmouth, Ohio or SOMC Hospice, 2201 25th Street, Portsmouth, Ohio 45662. Lana would like to extend her appreciation to Hillview Retirement Center Healthcare staff for the loving care Jean received while a resident there. Also, a special thanks to Pastor Greg and Carol Carter for their loving attention to her mother. F.C. Daehler Mortuary is caring for the family.
