Doris Barsch Calverley, 94, died on March 16, 2022 at Hill View Retirement Center. She was born to Albert H. and Gladys Yingling Barsch in Bayonne, New Jersey. Her parents as well as her brother Albert H. Barsch, Jr. preceeded her in death.

 

Doris married Harold J. Calverley in Bayonne in 1950. They lived in Pompton Plains, New Jersey; Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania; and Lewiston, New York before retiring to Scioto County. Harold predeceased her in 2001. In 2013 Doris moved to Hill View Retirement Center.

 

Doris was retired from the medical fraud department of Prudential Insurance Company. She was a member of Second Presbyterian Church in Portsmouth.

 

Doris loved time with family and friends. She enjoyed the ocean, reading, watching sports, cooking, playing chair volleyball and attending sing-a-longs.

 

Doris survived polio, cancer, and COVID, succumbing to Alzheimer's.

 

She is survived by daughter Lynne (Stephen) Rodeheffer of Louisville, Kentucky, son H. John Calverley, Jr.of Lucasville, three grandchildren, four great grandchildren, two nieces, and a nephew.

 

The family takes this opportunity to express sincerely appreciation to the staff of Hill View Retirement Center's memory unity - Wesley Village, Southern Ohio Medical Center's Hospice, and the Portsmouth Public Library for enriching her life.

 

Private arrangements have been made under the direction of Daehler Mortuary.
