Donald R. Smith, 70, of West Portsmouth, Ohio, passed away on October 13, 2026.

Donald was a well-known and well-loved musician who brought his gift of music to countless people throughout the years. He had a remarkable talent for music and could play just about any instrument that was put in his hands, including guitar, saxophone, keyboards, and many others. Whatever instrument was needed, Donald could pick it up and make music. His talent, kindness, and willingness to help others made him a special person to all who knew him.

Donald was preceded in death by his father, Bernard Smith, and his mother, Esther Smith.

He is survived by his beloved dog, Cassie, who was his favorite thing in this world and a constant companion. He is also survived by his very good friend, Dewey Howard, with whom Donald had resided during the past year; his cousins, Patty Adams, Patty (Pettigrew) Webster, and Sandy Brisker; along with numerous other cousins and friends.

Donald will be remembered not only for his incredible musical talent, but for the joy, friendship, and kindness he shared with those around him. His music touched many lives, and he will be deeply missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing him.
