It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Christine Marie Matthews who left us on June 2, 2025 at the age of 78. She was a cherished mother, grandmother, and friend, whose warmth, kindness, and love touched the lives of all who knew her. Born on December 18, 1946 in Orlando California to Delbert Buffinger and Betty Clothier and raised by Richard and Orla Buffinger. She enjoyed board games, crafting, bingo and playing cards. She loved listening to country music and never missed the chance to watch the Red's.

Christine is survived by her children Fred (Brenda) Matthews of Otway, Susan Matthews of West Portsmouth, Stephen Matthews of Portsmouth, Michael Matthews of West Portsmouth, Vicki Hanson of Columbus, Samuel Matthews of West Portsmouth, James (Joan) Matthews of Jacksonville Florida, John (Eunice) Matthews of Columbus, and her beloved furbaby "Ollie". She is survived by 17 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren who will carry her memory in their hearts forever. She was preceded in death by her former husband Paul Matthews, son Paul Matthews II, Delbert Matthews, three grandchildren Shane Matthews, Kristin Matthews and Brent Matthews, and her life-long best friend Diana Cruitt.

A celebration of life will take place for friends and family at Sciotodale Freewill Baptist Church, 1866 Shela Blvd, Portsmouth (Sciotoville), OH 45662, at 5pm, on Thursday June 12th, 2025.
