A mathematician at heart, Charlie loved teaching anyone who would listen how to solve square roots. His sharp mind remained active through his love of word searches and puzzles; he even started a puzzle room in his community and was working on a puzzle until the very end. He also cherished his time playing Yahtzee with a dear friend among the staff at his residence.
Charlie was a beloved member of the Hillview Retirement Center community, where he will be greatly missed by both residents and employees. He was preceded in death by his father, Rush Perry; his mother, Bessie Bond; his wife, Patricia Turner Bond; his son, Charles Allen Bond II; and his grandson, Andrew C. Overfield.
He is survived by his daughters, Dr. Karen (Steven Alferi) Bond of Westerville, Ohio, and Dianne (Ted) Volz of Louisville, Kentucky. He is also survived by four grandchildren: Jennifer (Chad) Stover of Delaware, Ohio; Dr. Louanne (Dave) Bergman of Delaware, Ohio; Cody (Leann) Bond of Sunman, Indiana; and Jacqueline (Lekh) Shah of Denver, Colorado. Charlie was blessed with eight great-grandchildren: Maryn Maloon, Jack Maloon, Creighton Bergman, Charlese (Charlie) Bergman, Mika Shah, and Grace, Katherine, and Annaelise Bond.
Charlie was a lifelong fan of Ohio State football and found great joy in the excitement of each season. Most of all, he cherished time spent with his family. He leaves behind a legacy of love, and he will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
In accordance with his wishes, Charlie will be cremated under the direction of F.C. Daehler Mortuary, Portsmouth, OH. Please visit www.fcdaehlermortuary.com to leave a special memory of Charles or condolences for his family.
