Carolyn Kay Pennington, 84 years old, longtime Portsmouth resident, passed away on June 29, 2024 in Portsmouth, Ohio. With a kind heart and a warm smile, Carolyn brightened the lives of many.

Born in Portsmouth on April 26, 1940, she was a proud 1959 PHS graduate, and a past member of the Homemakers Club. Carolyn enjoyed the simple pleasures of life. She found joy in watching soap operas and all kinds of sports on TV, especially during the Olympics. Carolyn loved the thrill of bingo nights and cherished moments spent listening to Elvis, Country, and Gospel music.

Carolyn could often be found soaking in the beauty of the outdoors from "Front Porch Sittin", taking in the beauty of nature and socializing with her neighbors and family. She took pride in caring for her family and her home, ensuring everything was in its place. Carolyn's favorite treat was her daughter-in-law Karen's delicious deviled eggs and an abundance of sweets.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Ross C. and Lillian (Nee Fulmar) Campbell, one son, Michael Ray Pennington, and one half brother, John Dee Huffman.

Carolyn leaves behind her loving children: James (Karen) Pennington of Chillicothe, Jill C. Scherer of Reynoldsburg, six grandchildren: Chastity Scherer, J.R. Scherer, Shawn Scherer, Gary Shaw, III, Andrew (Shannon) Pennington and Courtney (Ryne) Hiter, and ten great grandchildren. Carolyn leaves behind a legacy of love and warmth.

On Tuesday, July 9, 2024, from 12 NOON - 1:00 PM a gathering of family and friends, funeral service immediately following at 1:00, all at FC Daehler Mortuary, 915 Ninth Street, Portsmouth, OH 45662.

Burial in Sunset Memorial Gardens, Franklin Furnace.
