FC Daehler Mortuary

Betty Ann (Nee Buffinger) Kuhn went home to be with her Savior on November 22nd, 2024. She passed peacefully at home. Born July 13, 1942, Betty was preceded in death by her parents, Virgil and Marie Buffinger, and husband and father of her children, Lowell McCain, brothers Larry Buffinger and Leroy Buffinger, and a sister, Judith Buffinger.

Betty is lovingly remembered by family and friends as a Christian woman, embodying the true tenets of her faith. She attended Rubyville Community Church and Cornerstone United Methodist Church. She lived a life of service and love for her fellow travelers on this earthly journey. Besides her volunteerism in organized groups and purposes, she was quick to act on a personal level, even to the extent of quietly paying for a young mother's purchases who found herself unable to meet the bill in a local store.

Her employment choices mirrored her servant's heart, working at Northwest Local Schools as a school cook, and later at SOMC in the linen and laundry department. Every day of her life she sought to help, comfort, and provide.

Betty was also known for her joyful spirit. Firmly rooted in tradition, she was, nevertheless, always up for something new. Her grandchildren and great-grandchildren were endlessly entertained by her willingness to play with them-to learn new dances, explore new spaces and opportunities, and even ride the Scrambler at the Scioto County Fair.

Betty is survived by her loving sons: Ron (Linda) McCain, Gary (Beth) McCain, and Steve (Sherry) McCain, grandchildren: Natalie (Aaron) Crumm, Mollie (Jacob) Cooper, Brittany (Josh) Pride, Brooke (Stephen) Realo, Drake McCain (and fiancée Gillian Dykes), Emzia McCain, and Elijah McCain. In addition, she is survived by great-grandchildren: Gracelyn and Wesley Crumm, Annie and Jack Cooper, and Presley and Aniston Pride; nieces: Tracy (Tim) Swygert, and Christa (Chris) Cassidy. Betty is also survived by her brother, Ralph (Vivien) Buffinger, and longtime, loving helpmate David W. Kuhn.

Visitation will be 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM on Friday, November 29th, with funeral services beginning at 7 PM, all at FC Daehler Mortuary, 915 Ninth Street, Portsmouth, OH.

There will be a private burial in Greenlawn Cemetery.
